Built by pioneers in learning, AI, and human development

At Matter and Space, we are redefining what it means to learn in the age of AI.

For too long, traditional education has left many behind.
We're changing that.

We understand both the challenges institutions face and the technology that can solve them. Combining organizational transformation, AI research, and clinical psychology expertise, we see learning possibilities that others miss.

We're creating a first-of-its-kind human development platform that integrates knowledge with wellbeing, equipping individuals to flourish as professionals and human beings.

Our convergence of human and artificial intelligence makes possible what institutions have always aspired to achieve: developing the whole person at scale.

Learning that is

1. Interconnected

Reflecting how the world is deeply connected through intrinsically interrelated systems.

2. Personalized

Addressing each individual as truly unique, while celebrating their multifaceted needs.

3. Connected with Purpose

Creating true human development through community cultivation and a sense of meaning.

4. Ethically Driven

Holding deep respect for the privacy and personal autonomy of the individual and their data.

Our Founders

Dr. Paul LeBlanc

Board Chair

"Too many learners never get the kind of teachers who change lives. We asked: what if AI could open that door for everyone—helping people find their purpose and dream bigger dreams?”

Dr. Paul J. LeBlanc is co-founder and Board Chair for Matter and Space, a new AI and Education company he co-founded with noted researcher George Siemens. Until June 2024, he served as President of Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU). He remains at SNHU as a researcher, writer, and advisor. In 2018, Paul won the prestigious TIAA Institute Theodore M. Hesburgh Award for Leadership Excellence in Higher Education, joining some of the most respected university and college presidents in American higher education. He is a frequently requested speaker internationally and often quoted in the media. He is the author of Students First: Equity, Access, and Opportunity in Higher Education (2021), and Broken (2022).

Dr. George Siemens

Chief Scientist, Architect

"Learning is more than just knowing something. Learning is about the kind of person that you are in the world. Most education is made for the masses. We're really made for the individual. AI finally makes this possible at scale.”

George Siemens, Ph.D., pioneered learning analytics and connectivism and serves as founding President of the Global Research Alliance for AI in Learning and Education (GRAILE). He is co-founder and Chief Scientist and Architect of Matter and Space, researching how human and artificial cognition intersect in knowledge processes. He developed the first massive open online courses (MOOCs) in 2008, has delivered keynotes in over 40 countries, and has received numerous awards, including honorary doctorates, for his pioneering work bridging learning, technology, and human development."

Dr. Tanya Gamby

Chief Health and Wellness Officer

"Wellbeing is the engine that underpins your educational and occupational journey. Wellness practices have been seamlessly folded into the learning experience because personal evolution requires dedicated support of the whole person.”

Tanya Gamby, Ph.D., a clinical psychologist, is a Co-Founder and Chief Health and Wellness Officer of Matter and Space. With over 25 years of experience across integrated healthcare, community mental health, and education, she brings a systems-level lens to human development and wellness. A committed advocate for coordinated care, she has served on numerous mental health boards and initiatives to integrate educational, medical, and behavioral systems. Her work centers on building inclusive, data-driven solutions that foster connection and well-being in the face of rising loneliness and mental health challenges.
